Old school thinking often saw expectant mothers figuratively wrapped in cotton wool during pregnancy. Now scientists are calling for pregnant women to get on the move - as long as everything is proceeding smoothly.

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that we all engage in 30 minutes or more of moderate physical activity on most, if not all, days of the week to improve our health and wellbeing. They also suggest that three or more sessions per week of more intense physical activity, performed in 20- to 60-minute sessions, is required to improve physical fitness.
